Tom is an experienced osteopath dedicated to patient-centred care. Since achieving his Master's degree in osteopathy, Tom has spent over a decade offering osteopathic treatment to patients of various ages and backgrounds, including competitive athletes from a range of sports.
He has the knowledge and skills to address most muscle and joint injuries, including sports injuries and running injuries, with particular expertise in back pain, neck pain, hip, knee and shoulder problems, sacroiliac joint pain, headaches and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction.
He works closely with his patients to develop personal management plans tailored to their specific needs and preferences. These plans include exercise prescription and practical self-management advice alongside a range of manual therapy, including manipulation, mobilisation and massage techniques.
They also often include appropriate referrals for help from other physical therapists within a multidisciplinary sports medicine team based on those available in high level sport. These include sports medicine consultants, physiotherapists, podiatrists, strength and conditioning coaches, and soft tissue therapists/ massage therapists.
We all have our own knowledge, skills and areas of expertise. That might be in a specific area, such as back pain, jaw pain or knee injuries, or it might be in a specific approach, such as manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, joint injections or strength and conditioning. The best approach for you may involve the knowledge and skills of the right therapist, or more than one therapist. The multidisciplinary team offers that.
However, this is not only a sports injury clinic. The idea is to provide the same kind of multidisciplinary care that is available in high level sport, but to the general public.
Tom's patients have rated him highly for his empathetic approach, for really listening, communicating clearly, and empowering them to take control of their recovery through achievable plans based on their own personal goals.
Beyond his clinic time, Tom has a keen interest in sports, particularly cricket and martial arts.
